The role

As the Senior Backend Developer, you will not only be responsible for developing and delivering robust software solutions but also for leading and mentoring a small talented & motivated team. Your role will be pivotal in driving the technical direction of the team, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of performance and scalability.

You will have the unique opportunity to shape UBIMET's technology strategy, playing a critical role in building software products that transform meteorological and geospatial data into compelling customer solutions.

Your main responsibilities

  • Transform Data into Products: Lead the team in turning complex meteorological and geospatial data into innovative, user-friendly products.

  • Design Scalable Solutions: Oversee the creation of scalable and maintainable services and APIs to provide weather data to a global audience.

  • Lead and Mentor: Guide and support the backend development team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.

  • Hands-on Development: Actively contribute to coding using Python, Flask, Django, PostgreSQL, and Memcached, building robust backend systems.

  • Optimize Core Systems: Ensure the development of efficient backbone components that support UBIMET’s range of products, with a focus on sustainability and scalability.

  • Encourage Innovation: Promote the use of new technologies and practices that enhance performance and streamline development processes.

Job requirements

You’re a fit if you have

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.

  • A passion for solving technical problems with an analytical mind.

  • Strong knowledge of Python.

  • An understanding of complex systems and typical system design patterns.

  • Experience with Linux (Debian flavors preferred).

  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment and a willingness to learn.

  • Fluency in English; German is a plus.

For legal reasons, we would like to point out that the minimum salary for this position is EUR 64.000,- gross per year. Significant overpayment is possible, depending on qualifications and experience.
